  1.  WHERE TO GET  TV AGENT  LISTINGS   TVLIST*.*            8/19/96

  3. These BBS systems have said that they carry the TVLIST*.* listings files
  4. you need to use TV Agent.
  5.  
  6. Before you try one of these boards you should ask your sysop if he is a
  7. Planet Connect or Skylink site (using a satellite dish to receive data
  8. from the Planet Connect satellites.) Consider becoming one yourself!
  9. Get more info from the Planet Systems voice number (423) 623-8300.
  10. The TV listings COME TO YOU if you're a Planet Connect or Skylink
  11. subscriber, and a subscription to TV Agent is included.

  13. Any Planet Connect or Skylink site has the right to post the listings for
  14. you to download, but some sites do not choose to or haven't been asked to.
  15. Many more sites would carry them if asked. There has been a recent change
  16. in policy, allowing Planet Connect and Skylink sites to "hub" the listings
  17. -- that is, they can pass the listings on to other BBSs for posting. TIC
  18. and FILE_ID.DIZ files are provided to make it easier for the sysops. Some
  19. sites may not be aware of that new policy yet.

  21. Even if your sysop does not have a dish subscription, he probably does
  22. know a local board that has a dish, or a path to a dish site. Most people
  23. who read Fido echomail get their mail thru a Planet Connect site. The TV
  24. listings can travel to you along the same route the mail takes, if the
  25. sysops along the way are willing to provide the distribution service we
  26. need. To encourage the Planet Connect sysops, please tell Planet Systems
  27. which Planet Connect site is supplying your listings. (That PC site will
  28. get a credit on PC renewal.)

  30. The FTP and BBS sites listed here are not obligated to provide this
  31. service, and some of them may charge access fees. Please report any
  32. difficulties to TV Agent Tech Support (423) 623-5234. You can also call
  33. there to see if there are additions to this list. You can download a
  34. recent version of this list from the Planet Connect/Skylink Support BBS at
  35. (423) 623-8111, without logging in -- just pick the option to see the
  36. "Files that work with Planet Connect software" and download the file
  37. WHERE.LST .

  39. In the same way you can get a free demo version
  40. TVADEMO.ZIP   225879 2-03-96  2:01a     and listings to use with it
  41. TVLIST0?.ZIP, about 290K each, where the ? is 1 thru 8, for the first 8
  42. days of the month. There are also demo packages that include some
  43. listings, in case you want to have a useable demo after downloading just
  44. one file. For instance TVADEMO4.ZIP (1.3 meg) includes listings for 4
  45. days, March 5-8, 1996. All the demos include the same TVAGENT.EXE and once
  46. you have that you can use it with listings for the first week of the
  47. current month by downloading TVLIST0?.ZIP files.

  49. You can NOT download TV listings files for the rest of the month from the
  50. Planet Connect/Skylink Support BBS!  So ask your LOCAL sysop first, and if
  51. he can't supply the TVLIST*.* files, ask one of the following. There's an
  52. anonymous FTP site at the end!
